To me, cameras are a tool for accessing and telling stories. Photographs and videos can be wonderful tools to provide an insight into a moment of time, a memory, a person, an experience, and so much more.
I created my symbolic camera from a fiction book to reflect this idea of storytelling. I added a viewfinder so that the person operating the camera can see their subject, and a reflective lens so the person being photographed can see themselves.
The camera is pictured to the right in my favourite spot on the farm.
As we didn't live on the farm, I would often go there on evenings or weekends to help dad or walk the dogs.
This wall is next to the dog kennels, I used to sit there often and admire the views over Bristol. I felt photographing my camera in my favourite place was symbolic of my place within my dad's story.
